Christmas Alive! – A Gift from Three Churches

Christmas Alive! was a gift to the Gabriola community from Gabriola United, St. Martin of Tours Anglican and Our Lady of Victory Catholic churches. A live enactment of the story of the birth of Jesus, narrated by Antony Holland with music by Marilyn Smith, was presented on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 5pm at The Commons followed by refreshments. Over 100 Islanders attended this inaugural event.

Christmas – Alive! was a delightful and magical evening and thanks were extended to all who helped in any and every way to present this labour of love to our Gabriola community. Don Butt who also led the carol singing that evening took some photos:

The Giving Tree – Supporting Haven House and the V.I. Therapeutic Facility

Advent "Giving Tree" is a Christmas gift opportunity for the congregations of both churches. People are invited to remove one or more of the gift tags from the tree and purchase the items written on the tag and return then place the unwrapped gifts under the tree by December 23.

Items are directed to Haven Transition House (for victims of family abuse in Nanaimo) and to the Vancouver Island Therapeutic Facility that is operated by the Nanaimo Region of the John Howard Society.
