Music Ministry

The Gabriola United Church choir is under the direction of Don Butt, BScPhm MD CCFP FCFP. Don is a member of the Malaspina and Island Consort choirs in Nanaimo. He is also an accomplished flutist and photographer.

GUC is fortunate to have organist/pianist Hiromi Bradshaw gracing the services with her accomplished musical knowledge and gifted talent.

The choir sings a wide range of sacred and secular music. Choir members practice on Sunday mornings at 10:15 and sing at the 11am Sunday services. New members are always welcome.

Guest musicians and vocalists are invited to participate in worship services throughout the year.

Christmas Cantata

Choir Director Don Butt and Organist/Pianist Hiromi Bradshaw presented the GUC Christmas Cantata with the Hand Bell Choir, the Church Choir and the Children’s Choir from Gabriola Elementary School - Christmas 2012

Gabriola Chamber Ensemble

Gabriola United Church is also the home of the Gabriola Chamber Ensemble (GCE) under the direction of Leah Hokanson. The GCE was formed 15 years ago as an instrumental group, with singers added a few years later. The Ensemble presents its Christmas and Spring concerts at the church. Gabriola Hand Bell Ringers

The Gabriola Hand Bell Ringers hold weekly practices at the church. It is a newly-formed group as of August 2011 and a member of the BC Guild of English Hand Bell Ringers which provides opportunities to play with other groups.
